Meta business portfolio: the home for your Pages, ad accounts and people

A Meta business portfolio, formerly called Business Manager, is where a business owns and manages its Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts, datasets (pixels), catalogues and the people and agencies who work on them. The business should own the portfolio and its assets, give agencies partner access, use two-factor authentication, and keep at least two admins.

The freelancer who owned the ad account

A Kollam boutique’s Instagram ads were run by a freelancer who created the ad account inside his own business portfolio.

When they stopped working together, the boutique lost its ad account, pixel data and audiences overnight.

They rebuilt everything in their own portfolio and now add every agency as a partner, never as the owner.

Illustrative example based on a common pattern in Kerala e-commerce accounts. Numbers rounded.

What a Meta business portfolio is

Business Suite and Business Settings are where you manage the portfolio. Assets are owned by one portfolio and can be shared with partners.

People get full or partial access to each asset. Agencies should be added as partners from their own portfolio, so access can be removed cleanly.

Business owns assets → people and partners get access → access is removed when work ends
