In Claude Class Lesson 3 we took a quick tour inside Claude. This page is the screen map we promised: the four places you need to know, what each one does, and one thing to try in each.
1. The chat box
ചോദിക്കുന്നതും ഫയൽ കൊടുക്കുന്നതും മോഡൽ മാറ്റുന്നതും ഇവിടെ.
- Type your request. Brief Claude the way you would brief a teammate. Shift + Enter adds a new line.
- The + menu. Add files or photos, turn on web search, and switch on connected apps for this chat.
- Type /. Shows shortcuts, including any skills you have added.
- The model menu. Switch models from the chat box. The free plan includes Haiku and Sonnet; Opus and Fable need a paid plan.
Try this now: Attach a PDF and type “Summarise this in 5 points for a busy shop owner.”
2. The sidebar
പഴയ ചാറ്റുകളും പ്രോജക്ടുകളും ഇവിടെ.
- New chat. Starts a fresh conversation.
- Chats. Find and reopen old conversations. Rename the useful ones so you can find them again.
- Projects. A folder with its own files and instructions. Every chat inside it starts with that context. The free plan allows a limited number of projects.
Try this now: Find the most useful chat you have had with Claude and give it a clear name.
3. Customize
മറ്റ് ആപ്പുകളുമായി ക്ലോഡിനെ ലിങ്ക് ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഇവിടെ.
- Connectors. Link apps such as Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar so Claude can read from them when you ask.
- Skills. Saved instructions Claude uses for a type of task, such as writing in your brand's style.
- Be careful. Connect only what you need. Some connectors and features depend on your plan, and you can disconnect at any time.
Try this now: Connect Google Drive and ask “Find my latest invoice and tell me the amount.”
4. Settings → Your Claude
ക്ലോഡ് നിങ്ങളെ ഓർക്കുന്നത് ഇവിടെ നിന്നാണ്.
- Memory from chats. When it is on, Claude remembers useful context from your chats, such as your work and preferences. It is available on the free plan.
- Manage your memory. Select Manage next to “Your memory” to see and edit what Claude remembers.
- Pause or reset. Pausing stops new memories being saved. Resetting deletes all memories, including project memories.
Try this now: Open Settings → Your Claude and check what Claude remembers about you.
The one tip: stop starting from zero
If you keep typing the same background into every new chat (“I run a bakery in Trivandrum, our prices are…”), create a project instead. Add your details and instructions once, and every chat inside the project already knows them. We cover projects in full in Lesson 6.
Your 5-minute tour
- Open claude.ai and start a new chat.
- Open the + menu and look at what is there.
- Type / in the chat box.
- Open the model menu and see which models your plan includes.
- Open Projects in the sidebar.
- Open Customize and look at the Connectors list.
- Go to Settings → Your Claude and check that memory is set the way you want.
