Schema markup generator: free JSON-LD in two minutes

Schema markup is code that tells Google and AI assistants what a page is: a business at an address, a course, a set of FAQs or an article by a named author. Pick the page type, fill in only what is true on the page, then copy the code and test it in Google’s Rich Results Test.

Mistakes we fix on client sites

  • Marking up things that aren’t on the page

Fake reviews or hidden FAQs break Google’s rules and can lead to a manual action that removes all your rich results.

  • A different address from the Google Business Profile

Mixed signals about where the business is. Copy the address exactly, including the PIN code.

  • Two plugins adding the same schema

Yoast or Rank Math plus a theme often output two Organization or Article blocks. Check with the Rich Results Test and switch one off.

  • Setting it and forgetting it

Prices, hours and dates go out of date. Update the schema whenever the page changes.

Questions people ask about schema markup

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is a small block of code (usually JSON-LD) that describes your page to search engines in a fixed vocabulary from schema.org: this is a business at this address, this is an article by this author, these are the questions and answers on the page.

Where do I paste the JSON-LD code?

Inside the page’s HTML, in the <head> or anywhere in the <body>. In WordPress, use your SEO plugin’s schema settings or a header-and-footer code plugin on that one page. In Shopify, add it to the page or product template.

Does schema markup improve rankings?

Not directly. It helps Google and AI assistants understand the page and can unlock rich results such as review stars, prices or event dates. The page still has to earn its ranking with useful content.

Do FAQ rich results still work?

Since 2023 Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health websites. FAQ markup is still valid and helps AI search tools read your answers, but don’t promise a client that it will add a dropdown in Google.

Which schema should a local business use?

LocalBusiness or a more specific type such as MedicalClinic, Dentist, Store or ProfessionalService, with the same name, address and phone as your Google Business Profile, opening hours and links to your social profiles.

How do I test schema markup?

Paste the page URL or the code into Google’s Rich Results Test to see which rich results it qualifies for, and into the Schema Markup Validator (validator.schema.org) to check the code itself. After publishing, watch the Enhancements reports in Search Console.
